Abstract
The aim of this study was to assess the efficacy and tolerance of Tantum-Rosa in the treatment of lower reproductive system infections. We evaluated 80 women, aged between 19 and 48 (mean age was 27.5 years) with symptoms of lower reproductive system infections and cervicitis. Ambulatory treatment consisted of vaginal lavage with a solution of 0.5 g of benzydamine hydrochloride dissolved in 500 ml of water. The women were divided into three groups: I - 30 patients receiving Tantum-Rosa and metronidazol; II - 30 patients receiving Tantum-Rosa for 10 days and Gyno-pevaryl for 3; III - 20 patients receiving Tantum-Rosa for a period of 10 days. We evaluated the regression of clinical symptoms and bacteriological culture results before and following 10 days of treatment. Thus, the drugs efficacy was determined. In 97.5% of patients following treatment, we noted no pathological flora from the vaginal swabs. All patients noted regression of clinical infection signs. None of the patients complained of previous symptoms. We observed no side effects following treatment. This drug may be used by itself or in company of other drugs during treatment of lower reproductive system infections.
