Abstract

The method is described for evaluating the viability of the cadaver liver used for transplantation. The successful transplantation depends on co-operation of various specialists - intensivists, surgeons, pathologists and others. An important step is the decision that the organ harvested from the donor offers the hope that it will function properly in recipient's body. That is solely the result of the bioptic examinations of the organ, including frozen sections. In the described case the 47-years old woman who received the liver is alive and well 6 month after the operation.
