Abstract
The aim of the study was to determine the dependence between the beginning of pancreatic necrosis with its acute inflammation and LDH activity in blood and urine, as well as the concentration of TG in blood serum. The study was performed on 107 Wistar type rats. In the experimental group which comprised 68 animals, acute experimental pancreatitis was induced; 24 rats constituted the operational control group and 15 rats constituted the non-operational control group. During the experiment, the level of LDH activity in blood and urine as well as the concentration of TG in blood serum were determined in the 2, 6, 12, 24 and 48 hour after the operation. The pancreas was removed at autopsy for histopathological examination and macroscopic changes in the abdomen were assessed. Single necrotic locations were observed after a period of 12 hours following operation. Evident pancreatic necrosis developed 24 hours after AEP induction. Based on the results of the study, we concluded that the remarkable increase in LDH activity in rat blood serum and urine in AEP, marks the onset of pancreatic necrosis. LDH and TG parameters allow the determination of the beginning of pancreatic necrosis in the course of AP in rats.
